Martin Saunders has been a partner in the dispute resolution practice at Clifford Chance since 2001. He has been advising clients on issues relating to financial crime since 1994 when the UK first introduced comprehensive anti-money laundering legislation. Since then, he has acted for a variety of businesses on anti-money laundering investigations, as well as compliance procedures. His practice also covers related issues, such as bribery investigations and compliance with financial sanctions. Martin has spoken regularly on these matters at conferences organised by industry bodies and has been interviewed on radio and television. He has been praised in the legal directories for his ‘calmness under fire and his encyclopaedic knowledge’ (source: Chambers UK 2012) and as a ‘heavyweight intellect’ who brings ‘high levels of energy’ to his work (Legal 500 2011). He is the money laundering reporting officer for Clifford Chance's London office.
