Summary

The Governance Leadership Programme inspires governance professionals and company secretaries to develop confidence and knowledge in the areas that make the difference between good and outstanding performance – strategy, influencing and leadership.

GLP is a series of collaborative workshops, centred on the Lyons Bateson model of Situational Intelligence. Situational Intelligence enables individuals to perform better by understanding themselves, the stakeholders they need to engage, and the context in which they operate.

Who's it for?

Participants typically include:

  • people facing a big professional challenge, such as establishing a new governance structure for their organisation, inducting a new board, or integrating the governance of an acquisition;
  • people at a career crossroads seeking new challenges and greater passion and purpose in their work; and
  • people who are ambitious and want to take their career to the next level.

What are the benefits?

The programme brings together people from around the world, giving participants a unique opportunity to share experiences and ideas from different territories.

Participants learn from peers in a positive and welcoming environment, and benefit from exclusive access to the programme leader and expert speakers.

The reflective and interactive approach results in a personalised action plan and commitment to apply new thinking. Individual post-programme sessions help participants focus on the application of their learning, reflect on their strengths and finalise the actions they intend to take to achieve their career goals.

Participants on the residential programme benefit from a reflective experience that includes inspirational after dinner speakers, one-to-one clinic sessions, and conversations with speakers, the programme director and fellow participants. You will leave inspired, energised and equipped with the insights and techniques to really make a difference to your organisation.

Why Situational Intelligence is key to your success

Governance professionals and company secretaries use diplomacy, persuasion and judgement to be effective in enabling their boards to perform. A strong understanding and application of Situational Intelligence is at the heart of successful governance, giving professionals in-depth knowledge of what motivates people, and how to get the maximum benefits and rewards from their combined efforts.

Situational Intelligence is essentially the ability to read and respond effectively to a situation. The approach recognises that the probability of getting a desired outcome can be increased by investing effort in understanding each stakeholder’s drivers, engaging with them and building collective motivation.
