Overpaying for a service is not a crime

In the late 1980s and early 1990s there were some famous mailing scams. In the IP sphere, we had our own to contend with. These usually involved official looking letters sent to clients, stating that they should register their IP right on some European register, along with an invoice to pay within 14 days. I used to get a steady stream of clients asking me about these scams – and my advice was simple: bin it!
