Nominations for Fellows to stand for election to the UKRIAT Committee are now open. I would like to encourage as many of you as possible to stand as we continue our efforts to drive the profession forward. We are always on the lookout for fresh ideas, diverse experience and new viewpoints in order to safeguard the future of the profession.
We welcome applications from all of our territories so that we can properly reflect the diverse nature of our membership. Candidates from all sectors are also welcomed – the existing UKRIAT Committee benefits from a wide range of skills and expertise. We would, however, particularly welcome candidates with financial awareness or from public practice, local government and the not-for-profit sectors, who are underrepresented at the moment.
As a member of the UKRIAT Committee you will be responsible for the management of ICSA: The Governance Institute’s affairs in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Associated Territories, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man (UKRIAT) division. The Associated Territories are defined by the byelaws and comprise 61 countries where ICSA has students or members which are associated with the UK and Republic of Ireland, except Australia, Canada, China (including Hong Kong), Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Zimbabwe and autonomous ICSA divisions where alternative arrangements are in place.
The UKRIAT Committee meets approximately five times per year at ICSA’s UKRIAT headquarters in London. Participating in the strategic management and governance of your professional body can be a very rewarding experience and I would encourage all Fellows to consider putting themselves forward for nomination. Not only will you get to use your knowledge and skills for the benefit of the profession, you will also have the opportunity to gather a wide range of experience in a non-executive capacity.
There will be four vacancies to be filled at the upcoming elections and all Fellows of UKRIAT are eligible to put themselves forward as a candidate, with the support of two other members. The next election will take place in November 2016 and nominations are invited between now and 12 September 2016.
