Changes to the Charter and byelaws - Read more

On 8 February 2018, Her Majesty’s Privy Council formally approved the amendments to the Institute’s Royal Charter, as well as amendments to the byelaws.

These changes, which the global membership approved in October 2017, will pave the way for the introduction of a new non-chartered class of membership ‘Affiliated Member’ and the new chartered governance professional (CGP) designation.

By order of the Privy Council, the changes have a commencement date of 1 May 2018. However, in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Associated Territories, we will not be introducing these initiatives before the new membership year begins on 1 August 2018.

We look forward to being able to offer these additional benefits to our members. There is no need for you to take any action now. As soon as they are available, we will write to all members, graduates and students with full details.
