Chair - AoC Create

AoC Create, part of the Association of Colleges group, is a trusted and valued partner for colleges and other education providers. With an income of around £6million, we provide a range of development and resourcing services for the further education sector, working closely with colleges and other partner organisations to support excellence across the sector.
Our value add services include recruitment of permanent and interim staff, event management and expert training and consultancy, as well as a successful specialist job board. Through our unique position as part of the sector membership organisation, we are truly at the heart of the further education sector. We work closely with our network of education leaders, as well as with our colleagues at the Association of Colleges, to shape and deliver an impactful, demand-led offer.
Our current Chair will soon complete his term of office and we are seeking a new Chair to provide leadership and direction to the AoC Create Board. The Chair will be responsible for the overall governance, strategic direction and commercial success of the company, working with our forward-looking Managing Director to ensure that our services are innovative and responsive to sector needs. You will play a strategic role in aligning our services to our key business aims of increasing our market share, building the reputation of AoC and creating a strong and sustainable FE sector. The new post holder will also continue to strengthen our external profile and brand awareness, bringing a proactive approach to networking and social media to increase our commercial opportunities.
Our successful candidate will have corporate governance experience as a chair, along with experience at board level within a commercially-focused business. Strong ambassadorial skills and the ability to provide advice, support and constructive challenge are paramount. Whilst a background in the education sector is not essential for this post, you will evidence an understanding of the impact of the education and training sector, and a passion for enriching lives through learning.
