About the trust

The trust is a highly successful Trust which contains 5 Primaries, 2 Infant schools, 2 Secondary and an all through Special School.  East Ruston Area Infant School and Eaton Hall Specialist Academy have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted, with 6 of the other schools in the Trust being graded good and 2 require Improvement.   

Boudica Schools Trust is proud to educate over 3,000 pupils, employs nearly 700 staff, with a budget of £21m.

Role summary

 

Role – Member

 

The role of the Members at the trust is to ensure that the non-executive directors/Trustees are and remain fit and proper professionals that they are running the trust appropriately and in keeping with the trust’s core objects and that the trust remains solvent. 

 

Members act as guardians of the constitution and their main functions are to:

  • Appoint or remove directors/Trustees;
  • Appoint the external auditors and receive the audited accounts;
  • Amend the Articles of Association (subject to any restrictions created by the Trust’s Funding Agreement of Charity Law);
  • Change the name of the charitable company and ultimately, wind up the Multi Academy Trust; and
  • Have a “Eyes on Hands off” approach.

Person Specification

Rightforsuccess seeks a business executive with board level experience from a commercial and/or public body background to complement the existing Members’ areas of expertise.

 

The competencies required for this role include:

 

Essential (due to multiple roles, candidates may be accepted who possess one or more of the skills below)

  • Corporate Governance
  • Non-executive director
  • Chair

 

 

 

Time Commitment

The Members attend the AGM. The Members may request that the Board of Trustees call/hold further meetings during the year as appropriate (for more detail see Companies Act 2006) and can attend the Board of Trustees Meetings.
