About the trust


Concordia Multi Academy Trust (MAT) was converted to academy status in May 2018 and now consists of four academies:

 

  • Childer Thornton Primary School
  • Parklands Primary School
  • Town Lane Infant School
  • Wolverham Primary & Nursery School

 

All of the trust’s academies are situated within Cheshire West and Chester and Wirral local authorities.

 

Within the trust, there are considerable differences in catchment areas of the four schools. Two schools are in areas of significant deprivation. The proportion of students receiving free school meals varies from 1.6% to 52%. The number of students with special educational needs also varies within the trust from 7% to 17%.
 

The conversion of the trust took more than three years as three of the schools are PFI schools. All four academies have new headteachers due to the retirement of previous heads. One has taken on the role of English hub lead and the other is now CEO.

 

The trust provides an education for 1,100 pupils across its four schools and employs 180 members of staff. The trust operates with a budget of £6.5m.

Role 1 HR and Change Management: Individuals with experience leading HR functions and managing change are sought in order to support the trusts growth and assist in marketing the trust. The trust welcomes applicants from sectors outside of education that can bring a new dynamic to the team.

 

Role 2 – Compliance and Growth Management: Individuals with experience managing compliance and regulatory requirements are sought in order to ensure growth is managed within the trust. Candidates with substantial business experience in a range of sectors that feel they can complement the trusts current team are encouraged to apply.

 

Role 3 - Finance: Individuals with experience of finance are sought. The trust is keen to speak to candidates with a strong understanding of finance and business financial management, along with a relevant industry qualification. You will work to support and challenge the trust’s CFO and CEO to ensure robust financial management with the broader support from other trustees with complementary skills.

 

 

Time commitment

Six hours /month minimum. Six meetings per year, plus sub committees.

 

Roles 4-5 – Member

A member is able to alter the trust’s Articles of Association and appoint (or remove) trustees/directors where necessary. They provide independent oversight to the work of the board of trustees in order to ensure suitable accountability for its decision making and strategy. At Concordia Multi Academy Trust the members are expected to be signatories for the academy trust, to attend one meeting per year, and to add to the already broad skillset within the existing team of members.

 

There is an open invitation for members to attend trustee meetings.

The appointee/s will have business experience and expertise in corporate governance and will be able to support and challenge to enable the trust to achieve the best outcomes for pupils. Individuals with board level experience are encouraged to apply, along with those able to demonstrate evidence of strategic working at board level.

One meeting per year.
