At NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) we know that strong organisation and strategic direction are vital parts of how we manage donation and transplants across the UK. Efficient leadership across our board and Executive Team is a fundamental part of our goal to be the best donation service in the world. But to make this a reality, we need a determined, focused and multi-talented Company Secretary to support our senior leadership. Join us and contribute to an invaluable service that improves the lives of thousands of people across the country.
This is a varied, dynamic and high-profile environment where you can build on your knowledge and experience in many areas. You’ll provide vital support for our Board of Directors and Executive Team, contributing to strategic direction and ongoing compliance. You’ll also coordinate Board-level, subcommittee and advisory groups, ensuring we promote shared learning throughout NHSBT.
What’s more, you’ll develop and implement a corporate governance strategy, collaborating with our governance team and adding invaluable experience to your record in the process. Through your work, you’ll play a key role in helping us become more efficient and save even more lives in the coming years.
You’ll have a proven track record as a Company Secretary or in a senior governance role, ideally for an organisation under public and political scrutiny. You’ll be able to juggle competing demands, implementing our strategies while dealing with business conduct issues and providing a high level of service to Boards and committees.
Naturally, you’ll have excellent organisation and prioritisation skills and take an analytical approach to your work, especially regarding budgetary and management decisions. A skilled communicator, you’ll be able to present complex information to staff at all levels as well as large groups.
You’ll be educated to master’s level in Business Administration, Law, Management or a related area OR hold equivalent relevant experience. You could also be qualified as a barrister, advocate or solicitor, OR hold equivalent governance qualification and experience. Finally, you should have membership or registration with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (ICSA).
The position can be based at any of our main sites in North London (Colindale), South London (Tooting), Bristol, Birmingham or Manchester by agreement. Regular meetings (weekly) in the London area will be required.
Closing date: 17 November 2019.
Interview date: 6 December 2019, to be held in London.
