Ride High is currently seeking a volunteer to act as Company Secretary, willing to deal with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements for the charity and its commercial subsidiary, Pegasus, as well as administering all board activities. In addition, the opportunity exists to become a trustee of Ride High and/ or a Director of Pegasus.
Ride High is a registered charity that transforms the lives of disadvantaged children and young people by giving them the opportunity to learn to ride and look after horses and ponies. Ride High works with children and young people aged 5-25 in Milton Keynes, particularly those living in the most deprived areas for whom there is no or little support available. We effect lasting change in their attitude, self-confidence and life prospects so they become happy, confident young people who are positively engaged in the outside world.

The Ride High Equestrian Centre, operated by our commercial subsidiary, Pegasus, is Ride High's home but is also a riding school open to the public; offering equine facilitated learning, riding lessons, liveries, pony parties and hacking. Situated right in the heart of Milton Keynes, all profits from the riding school support the charitable work of Ride High.

As Company Secretary you would be working with a team of engaged and supportive trustees and directors as well as the senior staff members of the charity and the Equestrian Centre.
The role responsibilities include: agendas and minutes of board meetings; organisation of the AGM; monitoring compliance with our Articles of Association and administering changes where necessary; and ensuring reporting to relevant statutory and regulatory bodies (Companies House and the Charity Commission) is up-to-date. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to use their professional skills to support an exciting and very worthwhile social enterprise in Milton Keynes. The work would likely take a few hours every month, most of which could be done from home, ideally combined with physical attendance at most board meetings.
Suitable candidates will have previous company secretary experience or perhaps will be seeking to building their company secretary experience as part of their career progression.
Workload: Typically eight to ten hours per month
Location of board meetings: Board meetings take place at the equestrian centre and other locations in Milton Keynes.
Remuneration: Unpaid/ voluntary. Any expenses necessarily incurred will be reimbursed.
Frequency of board meetings:
Ride High holds about 10 board meetings per annum. Pegasus holds about eight per annum.
