We have an exciting opportunity for a confident and enthusiastic Assistant Company Secretary to join the Society and assist the Company Secretary in delivering professional administrative, governance and company secretarial advice and support for the Society and its trading and other companies.

The Society undertakes a wide breadth of activity, which is reflected in the responsibilities of the Secretariat team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with fairly broad company secretarial experience, who is confident in handling a wide of matters and preferably having experience in charity governance.

Key responsibilities will include:-

·         Knowledge of Charity and Company law and the legal duties and responsibilities of Trustees

·         Extensive experience of servicing Board and Committee meetings including excellent level of minute taking.

·         Experience of writing succinct accurate reports and presenting to Trustees, Boards and committees

·         Experience of working with all levels within an Organisation

·         Legal knowledge including Contracts, IP & Trademarks.

·         Completing and filing accounts and all statutory returns relevant to the Society’s companies and to maintain all relevant statutory registers.

  • Managing and maintaining the database of Council, Board and Committee members, and thereby assisting the Company Secretary to succession plan for new appointments.

Educated to degree level and either full of part qualified as a Chartered Company Secretary, or equivalent, we are looking for someone with knowledge of Charity and Company law and the legal duties and responsibilities of Trustees. With experience of servicing Board and Committee meetings including excellent level of minute taking, writing succinct accurate reports and presenting to Trustees, Boards and committees, and working with all levels within an organisation. The ideal candidate will also have strong IT literacy, with proven experience using Word, Outlook and Excel, and legal knowledge, including IP & Trademarks.  

We are looking for somebody who has highly developed interpersonal skills, and has the ability to work effectively under pressure, demonstrating a calm and confident approach to work. With the ability to work on your own initiative, you will also be skilled at managing situations and relationships in a confident manner.
