Raven Housing Trust has a clear social purpose: building homes and changing lives. When you join us as Head of Governance you will be instrumental in ensuring that we can deliver, grow and develop a service that meets this purpose, upholds our values and keeps our residents safe and satisfied.
We are a social business, investing in homes and lives across Surrey and Sussex to create and support flourishing communities. Everyone at Raven believes in taking personal responsibility for ensuring that we deliver exactly what we promise – because that’s how you build trust, security and a sense of belonging. As Head of Governance, working independently and reporting to the Director of Governance and Finance, you will be expected both to embody and to promote this ethos, using your credibility and experience to support and influence the Board and the wider executive.
Following a recent external review, it will be your responsibility to take the lead on the Group’s future governance, particularly with regard to our plans for growth and the need to ensure effective oversight of new projects, acquisitions and other developments. This will include the provision of outstanding company secretarial services and timely advice, appropriate member and officer development, and the maintenance of a comprehensive, accessible policy framework. A key consideration will be the design and execution of a robust risk management framework providing effective assurance and management of business risks.
It is essential that you bring real gravitas to this pivotal role. You must have a wealth of relevant expertise and experience, preferably including governance in a housing, charity, local authority, healthcare or similar sector. This includes significant knowledge of best practice in the assessment, understanding and documentation of operational policies, management controls and monitoring and managing risk and compliance, together with a solid grasp of information governance. Most importantly, you share our values: earning trust by being open and accountable, listening with an open mind, working collaboratively and caring about making things better.
When you join Raven, you’ll become an integral part of a 220+ team of talented, enthusiastic and innovative people who are committed to building communities. We don’t just invest in neighbourhoods, we invest in our people too. We offer competitive remuneration and benefits, including a great pension scheme.
