The ICSA Jersey Branch invited you to a one hour seminar on Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance provided by Willis Towers Watson.
The presentation addressed the latest trends surrounding Directors and Officers Liability insurance. We looked at what should and shouldn’t be in a policy, notification provisions as to what can go wrong, as well as claims examples.

The ICSA Jersey Branch invited you to a seminar on conflicts of interest taking place on Thursday 5 July.
We were joined by our speaker Emma German, Senior Associate at Carey Olsen, as she explored director conflicts of interest from the perspective of a company secretary and, in particular, the company secretary’s role in identifying, recording and monitoring director conflicts. She also covered the statutory and fiduciary obligations under Jersey law relating to the disclosure of interests including an overview of case law and related guidance.

ICSA members and students in Jersey were invited to a special briefing meeting on the progress of current Institute reforms, and to participate in a consultation on a second proposal for Charter and byelaw changes to be presented at the global Institute’s AGM on 19 September 2018.
Simon Osborne FCIS, CEO of the ICSA UKRIAT division, and John Heaton, President of the ICSA UKRIAT division, updated you on the introduction of the new qualifying programme syllabus, affiliated membership and the new designation of chartered governance professional. The Jersey conference took on the theme ‘Managing Risk, Leading Change’ and reflected the bold role that Jersey can play in the governance environment. The conference revealed the new agenda for ICSA: The Governance Institute and explored themes arising from the upcoming changes to the UK Corporate Governance Code.

ICSA Jersey had an informative session on cryptocurrency.
This presentation, aimed at the entirely uninitiated, provided an accessible and interactive explanation of cryptocurrency. It touches on how this disruptive technology is turning fiscal, regulatory and legal categorisations upside.
The meeting was followed by a drinks reception and a chance to network with peers.

The speaker for the seminar was Rob Shapland, Ethical Hacker. Rob focused on how easy it is for cyber criminals to breach your defences and steal information, using recent attacks against Equifax and Uber as examples. He also spoke of real life stories from his own experience to show how simple social engineering techniques can be used to gain access to almost any company.

We are pleased to announce that the second Jersey Company Secretary Roundtable took place on Thursday 25 January at 5.30pm, at Intertrust, 44 Esplanade, St Helier JE4 9WG.
The inaugural roundtable was well attended and prompted some thought provoking conversation. A number of actions came out of the discussions, all of which we are progressing and we will update you on their progress in the new year.
One suggestion recommended a LinkedIn group be set up to allow roundtable participants to be able to easily raise questions and engage in conversations on certain subjects. We have now set up the LinkedIn group 'ICSA Jersey Roundtable forum'. Please email us if you would like to be added to the group.
Following a request to facilitate an informal Jersey public sector Company Secretary network, we would like to hear from those of you who work in the public sector in Jersey and perform some Company Secretarial duties, please get in touch.
