FIFA’s governance scores a World Cup winning own goal

25 September 2018

The FAI chief executive, John Delaney, has said that he is 'shocked' and 'saddened' by the news of the arrests of senior FIFA officials in Zurich during the week.

Speaking on RTE Radio, John Delaney said he was not surprised by the developments in Switzerland and was quoted as saying, “It seems like something out of a mafia movie,".

He added, "There is always controversy around FIFA and its governance and the one person who has always been at the head of that is Sepp Blatter and he has to take some responsibility for that and that’s why I said yesterday that we wouldn’t be voting for him."
