Introduction to the Role of the Company Secretary

This is an essential half-day course for newly appointed company secretaries and company secretarial support staff of companies incorporated under Irish company law.


Effective company secretaries are more valuable than ever, but that value depends on up-to-date skills, contacts and expertise. This course is an essential primer for newcomers – or the perfect refresher for secretaries and governance professionals seeking to deepen their involvement and value.


Confidence comes from knowledge. By the end of the workshop you will understand:

  • Introduction to the relevant company law in Ireland and types of entity
  • Role of the Secretary and the other members of the Board
  • The statutory records you must keep
  • Introduction to basic precedents
  • What goes to the Companies Registration Office
