In this CPD event, Gerard Joyce, Chief Technology Officer of CalQRisk, will explain the fundamentals of risk management and what is involved when an organisation decides to address it formally.
Specifically Gerard will describe the pivotal role that the company secretary plays in the implementation of a risk management programme whilst guiding the Board in their oversight role.

Gerard Joyce, Chief Technology Officer, CalQRisk
Gerard is co-founder of CalQRisk with over 15 years directly working in the risk management function. His broad experience in different functional areas coupled with his study and practice in Risk Management enables him to bring a deep understanding of the issues associated with Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity. He frequently speaks and writes on the subject of risk and conducts in-house training with organisations seeking to embed good risk management practice. He is chairman of the NSAI Risk Management Consultative Committee and a member of the ISO International Risk Management Technical Committee.
David Devereux, Director (Risk & Advisory Services at BDO)
David is a Chartered Accountant (ACA), a member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors and also holds a Diploma in Forensic Accounting from Chartered Accountants Ireland. He joined BDO in 2012 from a large professional services firm where he worked in Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk. David is a Director within the Risk and Advisory Services team with over 10 years’ experience. He has an in-depth understanding of internal controls and best practice across a number of sectors. He is an expert in delivering value-added services to his clients including, Board Effectiveness and Governance Assessments, Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessments, and in developing Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks.
