Proposed new office of the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman

20 February 2017

Ger Deering was appointed as the new Pensions Ombudsman on 18 May 2016. Deering is also the Financial Services Ombudsman and holds both posts concurrently in the absence of amalgamating legislation.
On 5 October 2016 the Minister for Finance and the Minister for State for Financial Services published the general scheme of the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman Bill 2016. This bill envisages the amalgamation of both offices into the Office of the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman.
