The prevailing view of professionals working in the Company Secretarial area was that 2016 was one of the busiest on record. 2017 is shaping up to be as busy with the introduction of new regulatory and filing requirements.
We are anticipating the transposition of the Companies (Accounting) Bill and further guidance in respect of the new Beneficial Ownership Register requirements. In addition, the Companies Registration Office will be introducing mandatory e-filing of certain statutory forms from 1st June 2017.
To ensure you are kept informed of developments, we will be holding CPD events and blogging on issues relevant to Company Secretaries throughout 2017.
Our Annual Conference will take place on Tuesday 23rd May at the Ballsbridge Hotel, Pembroke Road, Dublin 4. To date we have sourced a number of excellent speakers who will cover topics including the following:
We have also organised breakout sessions on the new Beneficial Owner Register requirements and a Cyber Security Simulation.
The programme and speakers will be available on our website by the end of February and I would encourage you to attend. Please note that there is an early bird offer if you register for the conference up to 31st March 2017. Book your place now.
Our next CPD event is on “Brexit – What’s next?” which will be held on Thursday 2nd March at the offices of William Fry.
We continue to hold CPD events on all aspects of Corporate Governance and Company Law. Please check out our website for details of upcoming events.
There have been a number of blogs posted over the last few months on topics relevant to Company Secretaries. View the blog posts.
I am delighted to report that €5,000 was raised for the Down Syndrome Centre at our annual lunch in November - many thanks to all who contributed. Conor Ryan (ICSA Ireland Treasurer) and I attended the Centre and presented the cheque earlier this month. View the news item.
