Welcome to the latest edition of Agenda.
The Irish Council has developed a Strategic Plan, the focus of which is the promotion of the Institute as being at the forefront of Governance, Company Law and Company Secretarial issues in Ireland. This plan has been published on our website and can be accessed here.
In November we made a submission proposing improvements to the process for filing documentation with the CRO. This submission also suggested the introduction of protocols which would reduce the administration requirements in respect of filing information to the Central Register of Beneficial Ownership. This submission has now been uploaded to our website and can be accessed here.
We held our first CPD event of the year on Senior Executive Regime on Tuesday 22 January 2019 in Deloitte. This event was very well attended and the slides presented are available here.
Our next CPD event will cover Cyber breaches: What boards need to know and do. This event will be held in Grant Thornton’s Dublin office on Tuesday 26 February 2019.
We then have two further CPD events before Easter, one in the UCC Business Centre in Cork on Wednesday morning 27 March 2019 on Board Effectiveness and Performance and the other covering Risk Management for the Company Secretary which will be held in BDO’s Dublin office on Tuesday 2 April 2019.
Booking for these events will be available soon – please check the website which has all the details of upcoming events.
Booking is now open for our next minute taking course which is being hosted by Maples FS in their Dublin office, Molesworth Street on Tuesday 9 April 2019. We are expecting this course to fill up so early booking is recommended. You can book here.
Our 2019 Annual Conference will be held on Thursday 16 May 2019 and booking is now open. The early bird offer is open until 28 February 2019 and can be booked here.
If you know of any students or colleagues who might be interested in pursuing a career as a Chartered Secretary/Governance Professional, they can contact us on our email address at: email@example.com where our Business Development Manager, John Burns will be pleased to follow up with them.
We offer a service for members and students where they can receive weekly emails highlighting the latest vacancies for company secretaries and governance professionals. You can sign up for these alerts here.
There have been a number of blogs posted over the last few months on topics relevant to company secretaries. These blog posts can be accessed here.
A calendar of events is available through the Events tab of the website and I would encourage members and students to attend as many events as possible and to become an active member of the ICSA in Ireland. The schedule of events for the first half of 2019 has been sent to members. Please note that these events are also open to non-members so if you have any colleagues or friends who may be interested in attending, please do urge them to come along.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the appointment of Sara Drake as a successor to Chief Executive Simon Osborne, who is due to step down at the end of June. Sara will join ICSA in early March as CEO Designate before formally taking over as Chief Executive on 1 July 2019. We in the Irish Region are looking forward to working closely with Sara in the years ahead.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank McCann Fitzgerald, Solicitors, and Ray Hunt for contributing to this edition of Agenda. Should you have any queries in relation to any of the above articles, please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
