The role of the Company Secretary and the FT-ICSA Boardroom Bellweather 5 survey

29 July 2014

Two recently released reports will be of interest to members.

The role of the Company Secretary

The report of the research conducted by the Henley Business Centre, led by Professors Andrew and Nada Kakabadse examining the role of the Company Secretary in detail, is outlined here and it makes for very interesting reading. Among the recommendations of the report are: the company secretary role should be a direct, primary reporting line to the chairman, the profile of the company secretary role needs to be raised among other board members and the broader ICSA-qualified professional is best-placed to fulfil the needs of effective boards.

The 5th FT-ICSA Bellweather survey

The recent results of the survey are available here. The twice yearly gets the views of the company secretaries of the FTSE 350 to find out how boards are positioning themselves to address the challenges of the economy and the wider business and social environment in which they operate.
