CRC chief executive to help others identify governance failings at ICSA conference

Dublin, 4 April 2017 – Stephanie Manahan, CEO of the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) has been confirmed as one of the headline speakers at this year’s ICSA Ireland Conference, the largest annual event for governance professionals and company secretaries in Ireland. Stephanie will be using her experience as Chief Executive of CRC to help other organisations identify the causes of governance failure and to show how to guard against them.
Organised by ICSA: The Governance Institute, the professional body for governance, the conference will provide delegates with expert insight on a variety of important governance issues. Speakers include:
- Fiona Muldoon, CEO of FBD, plc, who will be considering the interaction between the company secretary and CEO as part of the key note address
- Paul Smith, Chief Strategy Officer, NATO Communications & Information Agency, who will be looking at some of the key points to consider when creating and successfully implementing an effective organisational strategy
- Keith Packer, former Commercial General Manager of British Airways, who will be using his experience of an eight-month US jail sentence to highlight the dangers of anti-competitive conduct
- Chris Hodge, Policy Consultant at ICSA and former Director of Corporate Governance at the Financial Reporting Council, who will be reviewing progress on the UK government’s corporate governance reform initiative
- Stephen Stynes, Potential Project Ireland, who will be exploring a number of mindfulness techniques to help simplify decision making and improve team and board effectiveness.
‘As change and uncertainty seems inevitable in the face of Brexit, company secretaries and other governance professionals must develop their skills and knowledge in order to help guide their boards through potentially turbulent times. Our conference is the perfect forum for delegates to keep abreast of developments in corporate governance and regulation. The conference programme includes guidance about forthcoming Companies Registration Office changes such as the introduction of mandatory e-filing of certain statutory forms from 1 June 2017, an overview of key Central Bank governance, risk and compliance issues, plus interactive workshops on cyber security and a focus on personal development,’ says Ruairí Cosgrove, President of ICSA’s Irish region.
