Martin Popplewell, Tax Director at Deloitte, will give a roundup of topical tax developments and how they impact offshore organisations. This will include consideration of various tax transparency initiatives as well as ongoing substance requirements in light of EU developments.

Speaker profile

Martin Popplewell is a Director within Deloitte’s offshore tax practice, based in the Guernsey office. He has been at Deloitte for 14 years, with a background in UK taxation, having spent 7 years as a member of our Leeds Office Corporate Tax department.

Since relocating to Guernsey in 2010, Martin has worked on a variety of structures and clients, including banking, funds, trusts and real estate.

Martin is a FATCA and CRS specialist with responsibility for this within Deloitte’s offshore practice. Martin has extensive experience of providing FATCA and CRS support to a variety of banking, trust, funds, real estate, investment management and insurance clients across Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.

Martin regularly meets with the Income Tax Offices across the Channel Islands to discuss Tax Information Exchange, is a member of Guernsey CRS working party and regularly speaks at industry events such as STEP, Guernsey Association of Trustees, Association of Guernsey Banks and the Jersey Compliance Officers Association.
