The Senior Managers Regime is in danger of reducing directors’ ability to see the bigger picture
In 1999, volunteers watched a 30-second video clip of a basketball match to count the number of passes between one team. During the video, a man dressed in a gorilla suit burst onto the court. Afterwards the volunteers commented on anything unusual that they noticed. Unbelievably, despite multiple repetitions of this experiment over the years, on average, 80% of viewers do not see the gorilla. As British scientist, Sir John Lubbock stated: ‘What we see depends mainly on what we look for’....
