She is named secretary of a number of AIM listed, public and private companies and routinely attends board, committee and other client meetings to record proceedings, provide practical advice and ensure the requirements of company law and ‘best practice’ in corporate governance are observed.
Her experience extends over a wide range of associated disciplines, including board evaluation, intellectual property and trade mark registration, data protection and employment matters. Martha’s company secretarial career began in 1988 when she started working at Morgan Grenfell.
She qualified as a Chartered Secretary whilst working for Chantrey Vellacott and joined David Venus & Company in 1992. She remained as an executive director of David Venus & Company Limited, a leading firm of Chartered Secretaries, for many years during which time she held appointments as named secretary and consultant to an extensive portfolio of companies in all areas of industry and commerce, ranging from small private and unquoted public companies, to those that were fully listed.
As well as providing practical advice to help directors fulfil the daily challenges that running a company presents, Martha has also written a number of books on the subject and presented at seminars.
