The governance arrangements of the ICSA Benevolent Fund, the ICSA Education and Research Foundation and the ICSA Prize Fund have changed. The Trustees have brought these three unincorporated charities together from 1 August 2013, into one new charitable company named ‘The Chartered Secretaries Charitable Trust’.
The assets transferred from each charity will continue to be applied for their distinctive purposes and will be held separately from each other. These are to:
- Provide financial support to Members and graduates of the Institute in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Associated Territories, former Members and/or their dependants who find themselves in need.
- Provide financial support for the advancement and promotion of education and training in the law and practice of the profession of secretaryship and business administration.
- Provide for prizes to students obtaining the highest achievements in the Institute’s examinations.
Any donations received made in the name of the original charities will continue to be applied to the distinctive purposes.
In addition, the Trustees have obtained agreement from the Charity Commission to broaden the benevolence charitable objects. Further details of which will be made available in due course.
