In recent years, it’s become more apparent than ever that having an effective plan for diversity and inclusion in the workplace is not just a 'nice to have' – it’s essential. And for many organisations, really moving the dial on diversity is a significant piece of work in itself.
This award recognises those initiatives which are designed to boost diversity and inclusion – not just in the governance sphere itself but around the organisation, and in its interactions with customers, investors and other stakeholders. The adoption and promotion of clear policies on diversity, underpinned by executive sponsorship, would be relevant here. So, too, would efforts to address the barriers which drive the diversity gap, particularly at executive and board level. Also relevant would be action to close pay differentials or eliminate bias in recruitment, performance and promotion.
Whatever the nature of the initiative, the judges are looking not just for a positive story but evidence of its having had a demonstrable impact on diversity in the nominee’s workplace. Nominees can be individuals or teams in any sector.
