Dr Elisabeth Marx is a well-known international leadership expert advising the boards and executive teams of multinationals, family owned businesses and private equity firms in Europe, the US and the Middle East. Her core expertise is CEO succession planning, top team development and board acceleration. Her consulting approach is based on her research and writing on Global Leadership and Global Teams and also draws on her former board search experience. She has also been an Executive Fellow at London Business School where she taught the core Organisational Behaviour Course at the Executive MBA programme.
In her previous career, Elisabeth was a Partner in the Board and Leadership Consulting Practice at Heidrick & Struggles and in two other search firms. Following her research on Women on Boards, she was on the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council for Gender Gap and co-chaired the London Chapter of Women Corporate Directors for Heidrick & Struggles.
Elisabeth has extensive experience in the leadership evaluation and development of top executives and top management teams. Her research on CEOs and Boards is frequently covered in the national and international press as well as on radio and TV. She has been a regular management writer for the Financial Times and has written for the Daily Telegraph, the Observer and The Independent. She is also a consultant at INSEAD’s Global Leadership Centre where she works on a variety of programmes, including the Executive MBA, the AMP and company specific programmes.
Elisabeth trained in psychology at the University of Marburg (Germany), gained her doctorate at Oxford University and was previously a lecturer in psychology at the National University of Singapore.
Her most recent book ‘The Power of Global Teams’ was published in November 2013 by Palgrave MacMillan and was shortlisted for the CMI Management Book of the Year Award. Her bestseller ‘Breaking through Culture Shock’ was published in 2001 by Nicholas Brealey and translated into several languages.
