Dowshan Humzah

Dowshan is taking part in a panel debate on Succession planning: The board’s role in nurturing talent at 13.30 on Day Two.

Dowshan Humzah holds a number of directorships and advisory roles, including being a Director of Board Apprentice Global and Chair of its UK Advisory Board, as well as a Trustee of the MS Society. He has ensured that Board Apprentice is in the unique position of being highlighted in three separate reviews to improve board diversity and quality: the Government's Hampton-Alexander Review for women on FTSE boards and Parker Review for ethnic minorities on FTSE boards; and the Disability Review from KPMG and Purple. Over 65% of apprentices who complete the Board Apprentice programme progress to a board position within a year.

He has over 20 years of experience as an executive and is known for delivering business growth, industry firsts and digital innovation having held senior roles with RSA Insurance Group, Virgin Media, Orange, P&G and three start-ups. Dowshan has a belief in not what technology could do, but what it ought to do for all people and is a champion of behavioural science.

Dowshan’s personal background explains his passion for ‘access to opportunity’ for those ‘under-estimated’, which he has furthered through his work with government and across civil society, and his development of diversity of POETS (Perspective, Outlook, Experience, Thought, Sector and Social Background) as an organisational imperative.

He is a graduate of The LSE; has executive education from LBS; a Fellow of The Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
