Work placements and training schemes

At ICSA we are keen to support and inspire our students by helping to provide the best opportunities to learn and develop. We are working closely with employers to offer unpaid work placements, shadowing opportunities and paid training contracts. NB: Applications will only be accepted from EU passport holders or holders of a current working visa which entitles them to work in the UK.

WORK PLACEMENTS AND SHADOWING

Unpaid work placements are a highly useful tool for both student and employer. Placements can be for different amounts of time:

  •  a one day shadowing opportunity gives a flavour of what a particular job role may entail;
  •  a one or two week placement provides an opportunity to learn about a job role in more detail;
  •  a one or two month unpaid placement allows the student to make a real contribution to the organisation and also learn invaluable skills and experience.

ICSA has had several previous successes with its work placement scheme with companies such as Deloitte and Touche, Barclays plc, Carillion plc and RSA Insurance Group plc.

How work placements benefit the student

Work placements can provide you with an opportunity to get vital experience within the Chartered Secretary profession. They provide not only a chance to learn directly from successful and experienced professionals but they also allow you to test different sectors, organisations and job roles to see which you may be most suited to.

Providing work placement opportunities not only helps to raise the profile of the Chartered Secretary profession to graduates but also provides an extra pair of hands, whether to help out on a specific project or with ongoing work.

If you are an employer and you would like to advertise a work placement free of charge to ICSA students, please e-mail recruitment@icsa.co.uk or call 020 7612 7023.

TRAINING CONTRACTS

Training contracts are a very established route into professions similar to ours and at ICSA we now want to offer the same opportunities to our students.

How training contracts benefit the student

Studying for your ICSA qualification 'on-the-job' allows you to make excellent progress. You will benefit from the experience of colleagues and peers as well as starting to meet the work experience criteria needed to become a Chartered Secretary. In addition, you will be earning while you study.

Trainee Chartered Secretaries can provide an invaluable resource for organisations wanting to bring in new blood, boost an existing team or widen their skills base. Trainees also tend to be highly motivated employees who can use and share their knowledge and skills.

ICSA Recruitment is now lending its expertise to advise on training contracts and advertise contract vacancies online at no cost.  If you are an employer and would like to discuss the opportunity of offering a training contract, please e-mail recruitment@icsaglobal.com or call 020 7612 7023.
