
The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators has three charities; each with distinctive aims. In summary, a Prize Fund congratulates exemplary students entering the profession, an Education and Research Foundation promotes the profession of secretaryship, and a Benevolent Fund provides support to assist Members, former Members and Graduates of the Institute and their dependants who are in need.

The Trust Deed came into force on 29 September 1993. A Charity Commission Scheme dated 24 March 1995, incorporated the following charitable trusts within the Foundation
The Education and Research Foundation aims to advance the education of the public in the law and practice of secretaryship and business administration by undertaking, or assisting in the undertaking, of research, and the publication of the useful results of such research, for the public benefit and by such other means as the Trustees think fit. In furtherance of this policy, the Trustees are empowered to:
Grants allocated are evaluated and monitored to ensure accordance with the objects of the Fund. Recipients of awards are required to acknowledge the financial support provided by the Education and Research Foundation in appropriate publicity. Where support may be requested for activity that extends beyond the end of the financial year, subsequent payments are conditional upon the grantee providing the Trustees with a satisfactory annual report including information on how the Foundation's award had been spent, and the Trustees being satisfied that further funding would be made in accordance with the objects of the Fund.
