Simon Osborne, Interim Chief Executive

Simon is a Fellow of the Institute and a Solicitor. As joint head of ICSA Board Evaluation he has worked successfully with major companies, UK regulators and other organisations. He also chairs ICSA’s Company Secretaries Forum and is a member of the International Corporate Governance Network.

Until April 2003 Simon’s career was in the railway industry as general counsel, company secretary and latterly a main board director. In the voluntary sector Simon is deputy chairman of the principal UK railway industry charity, the Railway Benefit Fund.

Seamus Gillen,  Policy Director

Seamus worked as an adviser to the policy unit in 2008/09 during which time he initiated ICSA’s research on boardroom behaviours and the ICSA Hermes Transparency in Governance Awards.  He was appointed Director of Policy in November 2009. A Fellow of the Institute, Seamus leads the ICSA’s policy team in shaping and delivering ICSA’s policy agenda.

Robert Ing, Finance Director

Robert is the Finance Director for the ICSA Group which includes ICSA, its trading subsidiaries and three charities. His responsibilities include the production of monthly management and annual statutory accounts, tax planning and compliance, budgeting, forecasting and planning. Before joining ICSA, Robert gained a wide variety of experience in financial, management and project accounting roles with companies such as The London Stock Exchange, Esso, and BTR Industries plc. Robert is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.  

Nigel Tompkins, Chief Operating Officer

Nigel Tompkins joined ICSA as Chief Operating Officer in October 2009 to oversee the daily operational activities, enhance internal organisational processes and infrastructure and lead the operational functions in achieving the business plan.

Prior to joining ICSA Nigel spent ten years providing consultancy and interim management services to a diverse range of organisations including the interdealer broker sector (corporate finance transaction support), retail insurance broking (Group Finance Director) and roles in private equity. Previously, he held several senior financial management positions in blue chip insurance groups including Group Financial Controller of Sun Life and Provincial Holdings plc.
